After disappearing up the driveway, it returns full of furniture. It is a sign that Bear Mountain's most high profile resident is leaving. The fate of Len Barrie sealed in a Victoria court where a possession order was issued, instructing the former president of Bear Mountain to turn over his multi-million dollar mansion to the bank. It is a custom built home at the summit of the real estate development and golf resort that have been tied so closely to his name. But, Len Barrie is king of the mountain no more. A steady stream of cars pass through the gate to Barrie's home on Friday along with another sign his financial troubles are mounting. "He's (Barrie) has been fairly elusive," process server, Dave Phillips tells reporters before he makes the trek up to the former hockey player's home. "He as not been answering my calls and he's been telling me he's out of town." Phillips returns minutes later after serving Barrie with a statement of claim from the Bellagio Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Bellagio alleges Barrie owes it more than $2 million stemming from a loan on 2008 The bank appointed receiver for Barrie's home is the man now running Bear Mountain. Gary Cowan isn't prepared to talk about the repossession of Barrie's home, instead offering comments on the future of the real estate development and resort. "We have a great management team now in place and we look forward to developing our real estate opportunities in 2012," Cowan tells CTV News. "It's about moving forward. It's a new company and we have a great future." It's a future without Len Barrie, not only in name but now without his presence too.
