"What the hell are you doing? Don't touch me." "What?" Draco was confused. "You left me this morning and I was looking for you. Last night was great. I thought..." "Well, you thought wrong. Don't think I didn't notice that you still couldn't say it." Hermione stormed into the Great Hall and tore through her pancakes in record speed when she spotted Draco enter and sit staring at her. Later that evening, Harry entered the Great Hall for dinner to a spectacular sight. Hermione was sat in between a group of first years who joked and threw food around her. Ron was sat at the Ravenclaw table with Luna and it actually looked like they were having a decent conversation. Harry sat with Neville, Dean and Seamus who asked why the other two were sitting elsewhere and he told them they all just needed a little space. Both Draco and Hermione were sat staring into their bowls of soup distantly. Draco did not understand. He had thought that Hermione had forgiven him but clearly he was wrong. Naïvely he had thought if they spent the night together all would be forgotten. Now he realised that he had hurt her more than he should have and she didn't heal quite so quickly. As the food disappeared and while Hermione had not taken one sip of her soup, she was sat with her head in her hands, staring across the hall at the stone wall. Harry was going to leave the hall with the others but spotted Hermione and doubled back. "Hermione, you can move now. Hermione!" He clapped his hands in front of her face and she finally twitched. "Are you okay?" "I'm fine," she whispered hoarsely. "You and your boyfriend don't seem too happy tonight." "Don't we?" Hermione questioned, annoyed. "What's the point Hermione? You seem so unhappy since you got with him." "I'm not unhappy. I'm just thinking." "About what? How you've hurt your best friends? How stupid your decisions are?" "No, actually." Hermione stood from the bench and walked down towards the door and Harry followed. "So, you can just go off and sleep with whoever offers even if that person was the reason that Neville broke his wrist in first year, that Ron ate slugs in second year, that you cried your eyes out when he called you a mudblood -?" "Stop it!" Hermione shouted. "Just stop it! Don't you think I remember all of those things? I think of them every time I'm with him. He's apologised so many times for all of the hurt he's caused me, but that doesn't mean I pretend they never happened." "But what's the point in telling us all of this if you're ignoring him? He's tried to get your attention five times this evening but you're just staring into your bowl. What is it, Hermione? What has he done?" "Nothing." "Nothing? Or nothing you want to tell me?" "Nothing I want to tell you." She left Harry in the Entrance Hall and walked to the common room and into her dormitory and into her bed, sleeping as soon as her head hit the pillow.
